HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR
FIRST OBSTACLE RACE

So you're looking to run your first Obstacle Race but don't know where to start? Well, you have come to the right place. Check out the advice our coaches and elite athletes have to give. If you still have more questions drop us an email and we'll be happy to help.

Question: What is an Obstacle Course Race?

Answer: Obstacle Course Racing, OCR for short, is a sport in which a competitor, traveling on foot, must overcome various physical challenges in the form of obstacles. Races vary from mostly obstacles such as American Ninja Warrior "Ninja Races", to track races, to urban and cross country events.

Question: I have never ran an OCR before, am I ready?

Answer: Yes!! Each OCR has different categories/heats so if its your first time you might want to consider signing up to the open category where it is not as serious and you have the option to join the biggest OCR team in the Middle East and run alongside our coaches and more experienced athletes.

Question: What happens if I can't complete an obstacle?

Answer: Different OCRs have different rules and it usually depends on what category you have signed up for. Not being able to complete an obstacle may result in some type of penalties like burpees or no punishment at all.

Question: What do I wear for my first race?

Answer: An OCR Nation racing jersey!! Well something not to wear is cotton! The majority of OCRs will involve you getting wet and muddy and cotton is not your friend. Stick with anything dri-fit or our OCR Nation racing jersey which is made for running OCRs.
